Hi Mark and Patrick!

… or other lovely people from Targa.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to look at my work! Based on the job description and the notes I’ve received, I think I’d be a great fit for the UI/UX Designer position. I figured I’d save you some time and point you to the items that might be more important to you.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in UX Design, Bachelor’s in Software Development, and Master’s in Data Analytics

  • 8+ years’ experience in UX Design and Development

  • 6+ years’ heavy data visualization (D3, Highcharts, Data Grid) - complex tables and data dashboards (you should see the number of data visualization books I have in my home office)

  • 10+ years’ experience in O&G (LyondellBasell, NOV, Quorum Software)

  • 6+ years’ experience starting and maintaining design systems, including creating and maintaining documentation

  • 2+ years’ experience using GitHub Copilot to assist with front-end development

  • 6+ year’s experience using Material components

  • 8+ years’ experience using Agile methodology, including running scrum ceremonies when needed, and properly formatting tickets and bugs.

A note: most of my work that’s strictly UX-related (for Key Lime/federal agency and LyondellBasell) has been confidential. I either can’t show any of it, or have to remove the actual data, and whitewash it before it’s on my portfolio. As such, the amount of content is a little light for the experience I have. Should we have in interview, I can pull up some work that was done for LyondellBasell that I can’t post to a public website.

Points of interest

Education and certs

Master’s in Data Analytics, Bachelor’s in User Experience Design, Bachelor’s in Software Development

Nielsen Norman certifications for Design Systems and Design Ops

Design system

Initiated and participated in Design System creation for federal agency. Spearheaded and created the bulk of the Design System for LyondellBasell, incorporating WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards

Case study

Includes full process, including research, user journey maps, personas, user flow, insights, and solution

Mobile experience

Worked on mobile for the federal agency (although not my main focus), and worked on several mobile apps for NOV

Representing AI

During my time at LyondellBasell, much of the focus was building products that were machine learning and AI-focused. I learned that many of the engineers using our products wanted to know exactly how formulas were calculated, where the data came from, etc., and was able to visualize that information for them.

Dev and Data viz

Versed in React (very similar to Angular, and wouldn’t take long to adjust) and data visualization. Can throw real data into Python to get a quick visualization, as well as code the UI if needed.
