Simplified designs for complex interfaces

Looking Glass

Looking Glass searches through uploaded videos via text search, and uses machine learning to create a report from the video. Primary target audience is law enforcement. The new design is user friendly (in the “Before” design, can you tell the difference between “Upload” and “Add Files” buttons?), and prepared the application for sales. Designs were created in Figma, using Material Design methodology, and Material-UI components. I also developed the interface in React and Material-UI.

LyondellBasell

All of the work done for LyondellBasell (LYB) is confidential, and can’t be shared. This is the theme that was created for LYB. It was created to fit the Material-UI theme, for both light and dark modes, and it also adheres to WCAG AA accessibility standards. All of the theme components are mirrored in Figma and in React. Creating a design system is projected to save $2.8M annually.

This is what that theme looks like with a complex dashboard. This was designed to show thousands of different data points. The user can customize a time frame, which metrics to view, and also has custom tooltips that show across all graphs. Feedback on this design was VERY positive, greatly simplified and added more functionality to the previous Power BI that was used.
