Hi Kathy!
… or other lovely people from Group 1001.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to look at my work! Based on the job description and the notes I’ve received, I think I’d be a great fit for the Web Designer position. I figured I’d save you some time and point you to the items that might be more important to you.
I’m a UX designer with a strong background in web and platform design, with a focus on building systems rather than one-off pages. I tend to think in reusable components, structure, and scalability so designs are consistent and easy to maintain. Most of my work has been in corporate and marketing environments, where I translated business needs into clear, functional designs that align with brand guidelines and hand off cleanly to development. I focus more on function, reusability, and efficiency than visual experimentation, and I’m comfortable working within constraints to get the right solution built.
Relevant experience highlights:
12+ years designing corporate and marketing websites across NOV, Quorum, C-Ray Media, First Presbyterian Church, and South Main Baptist Church
Built and maintained design systems using reusable components, auto-layout, and structured patterns in Figma
Created wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that translate directly into development with clean, 1:1 handoff
Strong focus on component-based design, variables, and scalable systems rather than one-off layouts
Collaborated closely with stakeholders, marketing teams, and developers to translate requirements into usable designs
Designed within strict brand guidelines across multiple business units and platforms
Experience with SEO and Google Analytics to support performance and business goals
Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and delivering in fast-paced environments
A note: Most of my recent work is confidential. I’ve added some relevant work below that’s not on my main portfolio site.
Points of interest
Design system
Initiated and participated in Design System creation for federal agency. Spearheaded and created the bulk of the Design System for LyondellBasell, incorporating WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
Case study
Includes full process, including research, user journey maps, personas, user flow, insights, and solution
Mobile experience
Worked on mobile for the federal agency (although not my main focus), and worked on several mobile apps for NOV
NOV website
Collaborated with corporate marketing and marketing teams for the six different business units I represented. Created designs for custom pages, adhered to brand guidelines, and modified content through the CMS. Monitored Analytics for new launches and major keywords; adjusted SEO as needed. Led the website redesign and relaunch for the six business units I was responsible for.
Quorum Software
Modified website as needed. Created custom landing pages for new product launches. Not only adhered to branding guidelines, but modified them for digital use (Some guidelines don’t account for digital media - had to account for spacing around the logo and modified some brand colors to provide sufficient color contrast for WCAG 2.1 standards).
C-Ray Media website
Owner wanted a site redesign and add the functionality of it being responsive. I created designs in both mobile and desktop formats, adhering to brand guidelines. Also monitored Google Analytics and adjusted SEO as needed.
